Heartbeat Opera, National Tour

Victoria Lawal debuts the role of Marzelline in Heartbeat Opera's touring production of Beethoven's Fidelio. Lauded by The New York Times as "urgent, powerful, and poignant", this innovative production features a new english dialogue co-written by Directed by Ethan Heard Marcus Scott. 
 

Dubbed “singularly unconventional” by Opera News, “a radical endeavor” by Alex Ross in The New Yorker, and “pioneers” by The Wall Street Journal—Heartbeat Opera is a young company intent upon reimagining opera in intimate spaces for a new generation.

Victoria debut's the role of Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème at Opera Birmingham. Candace Evans Directs this co-production with Annapolis Opera, presented at the Dorothy Jemison Day Theater. Cris Frisco conducts.

Bizet’s Carmen takes the Glimmerglass Festival's Alice Busch Theatre stage for 10 performances in a new production directed by 2022 Artist in Residence Denyce Graves. Victoria covers the role Micaëlaexcerpts of which can be heard in performances of The Passion of Mary Cardwell Dawson.

Victoria reprises the role of Isabelle/Micaëla in an extended revision of The Passion of Mary Cardwell Dawson. The play by Sandra Seaton with music contributed by Carlos Simon celebrates the founder of the historic and groundbreaking National Negro Opera Company and premiered in 2021 at the Glimmerglass Festival.  Denyce Graves returns in the title role.

Led by Maestra Lidyia Yankovskaya, Victoria covers the roles of Queer Kid and

Azraele in this contemporary Double Bill. Directed by Chloe Treat, Kamala Sankaram and Jerre Dye's 2018 opera Taking up Serpents is paired with the world premiere of Holy Ground by Damien Geter and Lila Palmer, commissioned by The Glimmerglass Festival.
